Written about two weeks before the 2012 election....

There are these men, shaking hands and kissin' babies
Slicked back grey in their hair.
They flash a winning smile and say the right thing
So that you know they care.
If they get caught in a lie they just deny right to the end,
But tell me which is worse the fool who plays the game,
Or the fool who buys a ticket?
And maybe I am unfair to them,
But when I see one think...what a piece of shit.

Now I'm too young to have known a time
Where I felt things were truly good.
But we hoped to change our ways,
And now it seems naive to think that we could.
But there's so much money to convince me
That this new brand of shit somehow smells better.
I'll fix it all on day one,
Just cast your vote for me in November.
And maybe they just don't know it's wrong,
But I just got to stay... that's some bullshit.

But if I'm honest then there's one thing
That's become crystal clear.
To speak of us versus them is the
Same thing that's got us here...
So I'll admit I don't know what's right
I don't know what we should do...ain't that some shit.
